El Esteco 'Finca Notables' Cabernet Sauvignon, Cafayate, Salta, Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Mature, fresh, savoury.

This mature Cabernet is made from vines planted in 1960 at Finca La Urquiza at 1700MASL in the Calchaqui Valley in Salta's Cafayate, a region known for its high sun exposure, low humidity and broad thermal amplitude. It was aged in French oak for 15 months prior to bottling and six months in bottle post.
Smoked red plums, ribena, menthol, baking spices, molasses, soy sauce and dried herbal aromas are expressed on the nose. The palate mimics the nose, it has good freshness still and savoury and umami flavours develop in the mouth; toasted spice, dried fruits, cigarbox, herbs and espresso flavours trail across the palate.

Savoury, ssubstantial, character.
The primary source of grapes for the Max come from the Errazuriz Aconcagua Valley estate, 90 km north of Santiago. It was aged in French oak.
Expect notes of smoked plums and black currents, dried bayleaf and pepper, black chocolate, charred herbs and toasted spices. It has notable salinity in the mouth along with black fruits, tobacco, dark mocha and brown spice. The tannins have chew and there is a brooding character here. A substantial wine with balanced acidity--a meat wine.

Jose Maria da Fonseca 'Albis' Setubal Peninsula,l Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, weighted, citrus.
Made from Moscatel de Setubal and Arinto, this fresh white has all the fragrance you would expect from these two varieties: peach soap, apricot skin, lime, honey, and crunchy apples. The palate is richer and weightier than expected; beeswax and lemon verbena, lime pith and floral soapy flavours trail on the finish.
