Jose Maria da Fonseca

Portugal

Jose Maria da Fonseca 'Albis' Setubal Peninsula,l Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, weighted, citrus.
Made from Moscatel de Setubal and Arinto, this fresh white has all the fragrance you would expect from these two varieties: peach soap, apricot skin, lime, honey, and crunchy apples. The palate is richer and weightier than expected; beeswax and lemon verbena, lime pith and floral soapy flavours trail on the finish.

Jose Maria da Fonseca 'Periquita', Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Classic, velvety, harmonious.
This classic blend of Castelao 58%, Trincadeira 39% and Arogonez 3%, spent 6 months in new French and American oak and offers exceptional value. It is also renowned for being the first red wine bottled in Portugal; it's been in existence since 1850.
Fragrant black cherry and raspberry aromas are layered with cedar and violets, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, star anise and pipe tobacco. It has a supple, velvety palate with generous fruit. It's a modern wine with a rustic backbone and trails chocolate flavours on the finish. Harmonious, approachable and tasty.

Readers rated this wine:
Rustic, approachable and smooth.
A rustic and well-loved Portuguese red with aromas of cocoa, cherries and red currents, leather, tobacco and sweet spices and vanilla. It's fresh with similar cocoa, vanilla and licorice flavours fattened up with generous fruit. Easy drinking and approachable with a smooth finish.
