Don Miguel Gascon "1884" Reservado Syrah, Mendoza Argentina, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
This label is pays homage to the original winery (still in use) built in Mendoza city in 1884 that is now also home to a fantastic restaurant called Francis Mallmann.
Certainly more Syrah than Shiraz it is a wine with bright red fruit and wild herbal aromas followed by chocolate and vanilla, a burst of blueberry and a core of savoury char-grilled tones. It is medium-bodied with plenty of juicy red berry flavours albeit lacking some depth. Expect a wine that's quite delicate on the palate, with a fine powdery texture and smooth finish.
