Luis Segundo Correas 'Valle Las Acequias' Malbec Oak, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Pretty, generous, complete. This consistently impressive Malbec is grown and made by the fourth generation of Luis Segundo Correas, on the Don Angelino estate in Medrano, Mendoza. This consistently superb wine was matured 10 months in French oak then transferred to bottle to continue ageing six months.
Black raspberry and kirsch aromas are layered with licorice root, candied violets and baking spices. It's plush and laden with generous fruit alongside brown spice, cedar and pipe tobacco flavours. Beautifully woven and balanced with sweet polished tannins.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Luis Segundo Correas 'Valle Las Acequias' Malbec~Syrah, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Sweet, supple, fragrant. Made from 70% Malbec and 30% Syrah grown by the fourth generation of Luis Segundo Correas, on the Dona Ofelia estate in Medrano, Mendoza.
Expect fragrant notes of sweet vanilla, blueberries and cassis, sarsaparilla, violets and mocha. The palate follow suit with sweet fruit, vanilla and spice flavours that evolve into savoury tones of herbs, espresso and saline. Supple and approachable with a soft palate; it could benefit from more acid .
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Luis Segundo Corrreas 'Las Acequias' Bonarda, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:

While Malbec is undoubtedly king in Mendoza, a less commonly known but very important variety called Bonarda was historically the work-horse. This red grape of Italian origins, was mainly used in bulk table wine and now is mainly used as a blender, to to add fruitiness to the finished wine. But, Bonarda, especially ones from 90 year-old vines like this one is, can be excellent on its own.
This vintage doles out aromas of vanilla cherries and purple plums with green olives, tomato leaf, cola spices and leather. It has a supple and rounded palate, is sweet and spicy with savoury undertones and has a lengthy and fresh finish.

Cherry twizzlers and raspberry, vanilla, candied violets and baking spice aromas lead to a supple palate with impressive freshness. It's a smooth wine that is medium-full bodied and flavoured with tealeaf, spice, wild berries and leather; mocha flavours trail on the finish.

Monte Del Fra 'Ca Del Magro DOC Custoza Superiore,Veneto Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Unique, fleshy, slick.

Another lovely vintage of the Monte del Fra, which hails from Custoza, only 15km from Lake Garda near Verona. It is a very unique blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Tocai Friulano, Cortese, Chardonnay-Riesling Italico-Malvasia and Incrocio Manzoni from a vineyard about 45 years old.
This is a definitive food wine that has a golden hue and notes of honey and peach, pineapple and pomelo, beeswax and spring flowers. It's juicy and dry with great concentration, fleshiness and notable complexity. The mouthwatering finish trails lemon oil flavours.
A unique wine I always enjoy reviewing.
Pair: Oysters, sushi, sashimi, white meats and glazed duck.
