Fraser Canyon - Lillooet

Fort Berens Estate Winery Chardonnay, British Columbia
Readers rated this wine:
Balanced, zesty, fresh.

Pioneering one of BC's emerging wine regions, Fort Berens (named after a trading post, which was located on their property some 150 years ago) is located Lillooet, BC in the Fraser Canyon.
The 2020 Chardonnay (a mix of primarily estate with sourced Okanagan fruit), delivers aromas of pineapple juice, vanilla and hazelnut, lemon meringue and apricot puree. It's a fresh style with juicy yellow fruits and zesty citrus flavours atop faint spice and nutty undertones.
A solid wine, enjoyable and nicely balanced.

Golden, aromatic, fresh.

This vintage, the Chardonnay (a mix of estate and sourced Okanagan fruit), suggests young pineapples, vanilla and warm apple turnovers with a hint of toasted psices and caramel. Ripe golden fruit adorns the palate along with caramel and brown spice flavours that culminate in sweet lemony notes. Good concentration, length and balance.

Readers rated this wine:
Brisk, brazen, balanced.

Pioneering one of BC's emerging wine regions, Fort Berens (named after a trading post, which was located on their property some 150 years ago) is located Lillooet, BC in the Fraser Canyon. This vintage Chardy shows good balance; aromas of toasted hazelnuts, buttery croissants, lemon meringue and fine spice with a lifted core of yellow apples and mineral. It pretty much explodes onto your palate with butterscotch liqueur and pear compote. Deft use of oak, it's a nice combo of brazen and brisk, as the lively acidity keep it fresh.

Approachable, zesty, fresh.

Pioneering one of BC's emerging wine regions, Fort Berens (named after a trading post, which was located on their property some 150 years ago) is located Lillooet, BC in the Fraser Canyon.
The 2022 estate Chardonnay leads with freshness. It's a fragrant wine with notes of melon and orange blossoms, vanilla and creamed peaches. It's juicy and approachable with vague spice and nutty flavours. Nicely balanced with a long creamy finish.
Pair: Corn chowder, roast chicken, pan seared halibut, smoked cheeses, creamy pastas.
