Hillside Estate Pinotage, Okanagan Valley BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
The enigma known as Pinotage (Pinot Noir crossed with Cinsault) is a rare find outside of South Africa, but Hillside makes it work.
Aromas are classic Pinotage - red berries and cherry, lovely floral tones and mixed warm spices. It's supple on the palate with dense char, rubber and smoked flavours, cocoa and sour cherries with cedar box and light spice. The tannins are soft, it has balanced acidity, and a not unpleasant bitterness lingers on the finish.
