Bodegas Montecillo Reserva, Rioja Spain, 2001
Readers rated this wine:
As required by Spanish DOC wine laws, to be considered a Reserva a wine from Rioja must have been aged a minimum of three years--one of those in oak barrel. The Montecillo Reserva shows classic Tempranillo characteristics of cherry, red berry and sweet tobacco aromas with hints of cocoa bean and band-aid. On the palate, the fine-grained, drying tannins persist throughout with more cherry and earthy flavours finishing with a solid grip.
