Mistaken Identity Pinot Rose, British Columbia, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
This new winery, located on the Gulf Island of Salt Spring, has a great name, a well-designed package and the wines are all stated to be 100% organic. The winery is using fruit from their own certified organic vineyard on Salt Spring and a certified organic vineyard in Westbank, in the Okanagan Valley. The Pinot rose combines both vineyard sites to make this salmon coloured pink.
Aromas are red berries, loads of citrus and crisp mountain stream minerality. The palate is tart, dry and light in body with flavours of cranberry, citrus peel and a hint of cedarbox. It is crisp and clean but acidity dominates the palate - best paired with food like cheese, fish or creamy potato salad.
