Da Silva Vineyards and Winery 'Cor de Rosa', Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Purity, juicy, pretty.
The da Silva estate is located on the Naramata Bench and is owned by Richard and Twylla da Silva. Da Silva's story begins in 1955 when the family moved from Portugal to the Okanagan Valley--in 1959 they purchased an orchard. Almost 50 years later, in 2006, the family built a winery and today they draw fruit from 11 different vineyards/growers located in: Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Penticton.
The winery is also home to The Kitchen at da Silva, where a fusion of Mexican~Portuguese tapas is the theme.
This darling salmon pink rose is made from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Merlot grown on the estate Blenheim Hill Vineyard in Penticton.
Notes of wild strawberry and watermelon are seasoned with tealeaf, peach stone and faint garrigue. The entry is supple, it is a juicy wine with lovely fruit purity. It has a kiss of sweetness and flavours of blood oranges, wild red berries a just a hint of finely ground spice.

This mildly sparkling wine hails from the Hidden Hollow Vineyard on the Naramata Bench and is 75% Riesling and 25% is Muscat; the wine saw only stainless steel.
Notes here are gooseberry and lemongrass, crunchy apricot and green apples, lime zest and star fruit. It has a lively and zesty character and clean mousse. Crisp flavours include Meyer lemon and tonic; the finish is tangy and dry.

Notes here are a fruit-cup of peach, pear and apples along with honey, wildflowers and snap peas. It's approachable and juicy with flavours to mimic the nose. A lively and charming fizz with crunchy acidity.

This 100% Cabernet Franc comes from grapes grown in the clay loam soils of the Avila Family Vineyard in Oliver; it was aged one-half American and one-half French oak (medium+ toast) barrel for 36 months. You might think, whoa that seems like a lot, but the results here are nothing short of stunning--the best BC Cabernet Franc I have tasted.
It's a pretty wine with a nose of red currents and red plums, cedar, violets, star anise and pencil shavings with hints of dried orange peel, chocolate and bourbon barrel. The palate is elegant and silky with beautifully woven flavours to echo the nose and it has clove on the finish. There is a juicy character, but overall it is pure finesse.
200 cases made.

The gravel loam Outwash Vineyard in Oliver is home to the Cabernet Sauvignon vines for this 100% Cab Sauvignon and it was matured in equal parts French and American oak (medium+toast) for 26 months.
Pencil shavings and black currents, steamed plums and dark chocolate, wet cedar, sage brush and hints of licorice describe the nose. It's a fresh red with a supple entry and leans toward the Old World in character. Salted plums and chocolate hazelnut flavours are nicely woven on a balanced palate. Nice elegance and structure here, with good persistence.
