Mission Hill Family Estates 'Terroir Collection ~ No.29 Bluebird Passage' Viognier, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Potent, exotic, elegant.
The newish Mission Hill Family Estates Terroir Collection is a reflection of proprietor Anthony Von Mandl's vision from some 30 years ago. His goal, to create a line of wines, which showcase the unique micro-climates of the Okanagan Valley. Each label features a photographic image of the site where the wine was conceived.
This Viognier hails from semi-arid west Osoyoos and is entirely unoaked.
Expect aromas of peach marmalade, wildflower honey, lemon zest and ginger biscuits, with a generous squeeze of lime and a core of exotic spices. Expect amazing acidity; it is potent and spicy, has an oily weight and a white pepper and citrus peel finish.
Great concentration without distracting from its elegance.

Mission Hill Five Vineyards Cabernet~Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Modern, velvety, sweet.
A thoroughly modern red doling out cherries, raspberries and black plums, licorice, vanilla and baking spice aromas. It has generous sweet fruit and supple weight; it is medium-bodied with spice, mocha and tealeaf flavours rolling across the palate. Nice brightness, international style.

Savoury, sauvage, spicy.
Deeply coloured and scented with purple berries, charred spices, vanilla, toasted oak, mocha and savoury spice, this Cabernet is more rustic on the palate. Sauvage (rare cooked meats). tomato leaf, brown spices and tobacco lead to a bittersweet finish.

Readers rated this wine:
Cassis, stylish, complete.
Expect attractive notes of cassis, graphite, black raspberries, mocha, licorice and brown spices, which translate into a palate with a silky entry and great overall balance and structure. Spicebox, tobacco, leather, smoke and cocoa flavours are classic to the variety and the finish is lengthy.
Very correct and stylish wine.

Mission Hill Reserve Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Generous, elegant, creamy.
On the nose: toasted spices, nutty praline, pineapple chunks, lemon curds and tangerines with buttery apple turnovers. The flavours are wonderfully woven; vanilla, spice, honey and toasted nuts. I has the perfect balance of oak, without compromising freshness. Tropical yet restrained, elegant and finessed. The finish is lengthy and bright. Pair: Sweet cornbread, smoked gouda grilled cheese, creamy sauced pastas or roast chicken.
Pairs Great with Gone Crackers Roasted Shallot & Herb
