Mission Hill Family Estate Reserve Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Textural, brawny toasted.
The reserve range of Mission Hill's wines lean toward opulent in style. Scented with bold cedar and spice, vanilla, pipe tobacco and dark cocoa, which are lifted by plum and black cherry notes. The attack is fresh; dusty fruit, oak spice, dark chocolate, espresso and tobacco flavours mimic the nose. Brawny and textural with substantial bitter notes, overall. Pair: Camembert cheese and rich tomato based pastas, roasted meats.

Plush, fragrant, texture.
The reserve range of Mission Hill's wines are fruit-forward and opulently-scented in style overall. The Merlot offers sweet blackberries and plums with baking spices and mocha, licorice and violets with cedar chips and vanilla. It's a supple wine with dark fruit, bitter cocoa and spice flavours. Then tannins add texture and there's nice freshness her to add levity. Overall, a solid red to pair with Camembert cheese and rich tomato based pastas, roasted meats.

This organic Merlot offers substantial aromas of plumcake, baking spiced, mocha and vanilla, toasted oak and wild sage. The palate is more restrained, however, expect tobacco, pencil shavings, toasted spice and bittersweet chocolate. A serious wine with good structure.
