Play Estate Winery 'Saignee' Rose, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Harmonious, slick, juicy.
Play winery is located outside of Penticton on Skaha Hills Drive and boasts some outstanding views from the winery and bistro.
This saignee (to bleed off colour from red grape skins, resulting in a rose) method pink is a rusty peach colour and is made from classic red Bordeaux varieties. The packaging will grab you with its wide-bottomed bottle topped with a glass stopper.
Srawberry and sour cherry, charred orange peel, wild herbs, tealeaf and faint white pepper aromas lead to a juicy but drier-style palate with flavours to echo the nose. Slick and harmonious, this is a stylish pink that will stand up to grilled foods.

Play Estate Winery 'Spotlight Seies' Malbec, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Juicy, salty, berries.
Having undergone a packaging makeover, Play Winery's labels are looking quite lighthearted these days. Located outside of Penticton on Skaha Hills Drive, the estate boasts outstanding views from the winery and bistro.
This Spotlight Series Malbec comes from the Don Douglas Vineyard and was aged for 16 months in French oak.
Wet concrete and freshly rolled cigar and toasted brown spice aromas are layered with sweet red berries and pomegranate syrup notes. Juicy wild red berry flavours dominate the palate along with peppery spices, andouille sausage and molasses. It has a medium+ body and chalky tannins; there is a distinct salinity on the finish.
A wine for BBQ.

Play Estate Winery 'Spotlight Series' Semillon, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Juicy, zesty, waxy.

The Spotlight Series is an entry level tier, and this Semillon was half barrel-aged in oak for 8 months and the other portion was aged on lees and stirred weekly in stainless for 6 months before blending the final wine.
Lemon wax and pine needles, gooseberry, honeycomb and mountain stream aromas lead to a zesty palate with lemon oil and resin flavours. The finish is pithy.
