Play Estate Winery Sauvignon Blanc~Semillon, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Dry, restrained, slick.
Play winery is located outside of Penticton on Skaha Hills Drive and boasts some outstanding views from the winery and bistro.
A restrained white Bordeaux blend this Sauvignon~Semillon duo leads with aromas of candle wax and lemongrass, wet stone, gooseberry, straw and grass clippings. The palate mimics the nose and is dominated by lemon and stony mineral along with grass, lime, gooseberry and green apples. Slick and nicely woven it's a wine for fish, salads, soft cheeses and white meats.

Play Estate Winery Viognier, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Zesty, toasted, slick.
Having undergone a packaging makeover, Play's labels are looking quite lighthearted these days. The winery itself is outside of Penticton on Skaha Hills Drive and boasts some outstanding views from the winery and bistro.
Made from estate grown Viognier from Wild Horse Mountain, a portion of which saw 23-hours of skin contact; one-third was partially aged in new French oak.

Notes of honeysuckle, lime and peach are underscored by marmalade on toast, sauteed ginger and finely ground white pepper. Grilled citrus flavours dominate the palate along with spice. Concentrated and slick it has notable savouriness overall.
Pairs Great with Gone Crackers Roasted Shallot & Herb

Play Estate Winery Viognier, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Zesty, fragrant, fresh.
Having undergone a packaging makeover, Play's labels are looking quite lighthearted these days. The winery itself is outside of Penticton on Skaha Hills Drive and boasts some outstanding views from the winery and bistro.
Made from estate grown Viognier that went through 24-hours of skin contact, the wine was partially fermented in French oak and aged sur lie.
Tongue-in-cheek on the label: 240 cases were made and of those six went to "the bear", which I suspect was mowing down on those delicious plump Viognier grapes before harvest.
It presents notes of ginger biscuit and peach crumble, pineapple chunks and vanilla, lime and honeysuckle. The palate is zesty and lively, with lemon curd and yellow apple flavours. It has agreeable weight and concentration but isn't blown-out as so many over-ripe Viogniers can be.
