Castelas Cooperative Cellar

Rhone Valley

Les Vignerons du Castelas Cotes du Rhone White, Rhone Valley, France
Readers rated this wine:
Zesty, golden, slick.
The cooperative cellar of the winegrowers of Castelas was created in 1952 when a handful of winegrowers combine efforts to develop the wines of the Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues, AOP Tavel and IGP du Gard. The cellar's vineyards covers 450 hectares mainly in Cotes du Rhone with a combined 45 families of cooperative winegrowers.
A blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc it smells of sweet peaches and apricots, honey, papaya, lemon and fresh herbs. It's a dry and straight-forward white with a slick texture and flavours of yellow fruits and lemon peel along with hints of marzipan, spice and mineral salts. The finish is zesty.

A blend of Grenache 40% and Syrah 60%, it has stewed cherry notes woven with vanilla, leather, tobacco, licorice and mocha with strong undertones of garrigue. The entry is fresh and it has texture across the palate. Sweet fruit flavours are overlaid on peppery spices.

This 100% Grenache rose is a pale stained pink with notes of dried wild flowers, beeswax, small wild berries, herbs and orange zest. The texture is slick; it is dry with notable backbone and flavours of red berries, orange pekoe tea and cedar.
