Similkameen Valley DVA

Clos du Soleil 'Estate Reserve', Similkameen Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Succulent, powerful, generous.
A red blend of Merlot (17%), Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Cabernet Franc (16%), Petit Verdot (2%) and Malbec (8%), true old-style Bordeaux, but completely Similkameen in character.
Rich and sweet cherry and black raspberry, licorice, cedar, cassis, vanilla and mocha aromas lead to a liqueur-like palate that is showing its age. Cigarbox, prune and graphite flavours linger on a powerful and generous palate with a long finish and supple tannins.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Canadian Chedder & Chive

Clos du Soleil 'Estate Reserve', Similkameen Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Substance, structure, lengthy.
Similkameen Valley's Clos du Soleil makes classic minimal-intervention wines from vines tended with biodynamic practices.
This premium red is a blend of Merlot (47%), Cab Sauv (25%), Cab Franc (23%), Petit Verdot (3%) and Malbec (2%) aged 18 months in French oak barrels.
Expect notes of red currents and blackberries, balsamic and sarsaparilla, umeboshi plums, salted licorice, dry earth and tobacco. The entry is supple and suggests expressive bright red fruit, brown spices, leather and earth with a hint of fleur de sel. Notable structure and length here; a wine of substance. Drink now.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Canadian Chedder & Chive

Clos du Soleil 'Grower's Series' Middle Bench Vineyard Syrah, Similkameen Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, toasted. smooth.
This Syrah (with 3% Viognier) was hand-harvested from the Blind Creek Vineyard and aged 15 months in French oak barrels to mature.
Smoked beets and white pepper, cocoa and coffee, licorice root and savoury dark mocha aromas lead to a bright and smooth palate. It's a classic Syrah, nicely woven harmonious and elegant with a tobacco flavoured finish.

Second review: July 20/20
Purple berries and inky notes layered with blackberry, damson plums, vanilla, licorice, violets, baking spices and mocha lead to a fleshy but balanced palate. Supple, a generosity of fruit and polished tannins roll into a persistent and fresh finish.

Complete, fragrant. levity.
This hand-harvested was aged 15 months in French oak barrels and doles out vibrant purple berries, purple flowers, licorice, sweet spices, vanilla and mocha aromas. The palate is lifted with high-toned fruit. It shows impressive levity, it fruitfully fragrant and deftly woven. Feminine in style, finessed and stylish. Delicious.
