JoieFarm 'En Famille' Reserve Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Pure, expressive, smooth.
In a nod to the lesser known appellations of Burgundy (such as Fixin, Santenay and Mercurey) this reserve Pinot was chosen from their 12 best barrels, harvested from the Naramata Bench, Skaha Bench and Summerland. It was matured an additional 18 months prior to release.
Upfront and pure expressions of raspberry and violets with a core of vanilla and rainforest floor. It is smooth and fresh with forest berries, wild herbs, leather, fine spice and cedar. It's more restrained on the palate than the nose.
Pair: wild mushrooms, fresh salmon, duck, turkey and roasted fall vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato and roasted beets.

Expect tart red fruit on the nose; cranberries, red cherry, pomegranate with lilac, star anise, savoury spice mix with rainforest floor notes, notably wet cedar. The texture is silky and here the flavours are well-integrated; peppery spices, red fruit and cedar culminate in a smooth finish.
Very chic.
Pair with wild mushrooms, fresh salmon, duck, turkey and roasted fall vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato and beet.

Succulent, juicy, smooth.

Continuing to impress, the JoieFarm Pinot Noirs stand tall, not just as a representation of BC, either. This vintage is is somewhat more potent. It is succulent and smooth, spicy and earthy with juicy cherries, raspberry tea, cocoa, leather, beet greens and forest floor. Lengthy with fine but textural tannins, which add structure.
Pair: wild mushrooms, fresh salmon, duck, turkey and roasted fall vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato and roasted beets.

JoieFarm 'En Famille' Reserve Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Succulent, tangy, stylish.

Continuing to impress, the JoieFarm Pinot Noirs stand tall, not just as a representation of BC, either. This vintage offers cherry and cranberry, star anise and spice rub and bacon fat, forest floor, tealeaf and succulent umami undertones. It has a chewiness on the palate entry, which becomes silkier mid-palate. It is lifted with tangy red fruit and simultaneously grounded with bacon, cocoa, and tobacco flavours. Well-woven, classic, stylish and also serious.
Pair: wild mushrooms, fresh salmon, duck, turkey and roasted fall vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato and roasted beets.

JoieFarm 'En Famille' Reserve Riesling, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
IComplete, complex, textural.
As always, you'll find impressive balance on this higher residual sugar (RS) reserve version which was grown on a St. Hubertus vineyard in Kelowna, planted in 1978. This back vintage is showing well; aromas of orange blossoms and lime, apricots and honey lead to a juicy and off-dry palate with apple-y, honey and apricot flavours. Excellent complexity and concentration with some appealing textural components in the mouth. Fresh and lengthy and complete.
