Blue Grouse Estate Winery 'Quill' White, Britsh Columbia
Readers rated this wine:
Crunchy, pristine, racy.
A blend that includes Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau and Schonburger, the Quill White has stepped up from last vintage. Expect pristine aromas of white peaches and honey, jasmine and racy grapefruit. The palate is crunchy--an explosion of crisp tree fruits and citrus makes for a mouthwatering character. Crisp and zesty with a long mouthwatering finish.

Blue Grouse Estate Winery Ortega, Cowichan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Unique, pristine, aromatic.
Vancouver Island's signature grape Ortega, a cross between Siegerrebe and Muller-Thurgau (itself a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale) is beautifully represented in Blue Grouse's organic estate version. The majority of its grapes come from vines at least 25 years old that are grown in Fairbridge soils, which vary from fractured silt-loam to gravel and sand.
The variety has a delicacy, and this one is delightfully aromatic with peachy/apricot notes woven with honey, spring flowers, yellow apples and pear atop fresh mountain stream. It's approachable and quaffable with a lovely weight and lime and grapefruit-y undertones.

Blue Grouse Estate Winery Pinot Gris, Cowichan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Potent, delightful, earthy.
From some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines on Vancouver Island, the Blue Grouse version is delightful, delivering Asian pears ans honeysuckle, white nectarines and a classic earthy-sort-of-mushroomy quality at the core. A kiss of sweetness is to be expected and the flavours are uncovered as exotic citrus, honey and guava. Great concentration and a lengthy and potent finish.

Blue Grouse Estate Winery Pinot Gris, Cowichan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Unique, lemony, earthy.
From some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in British Columbia, the Blue Grouse version went through secondary fermentation and was partially aged in oak.
It has distinct smoked pears and forest floor/mushroomy aromas, with floral-scented talk and bold lemony notes. It shows good weight and phenolic texture, the fruit is restrained, and it is creamy yet racy, and has a pithy finish. A definitive food wine.
