Spiced cherry aromas are woven with dried violets, cedar chips and forest floor aromas. It has a supple entry and bright acidity with firm but smooth tannins and a fresh finish trailing cocoa, spice and leather flavours. Good classic style, good balance.
Pair: grilled salmon, mushroom pastas, roasted beets and squash.

NEW, fresh, expressive.
A fresh look and distinct new separation from the Inniskillin brand, the Dark Horse Vineyard wines are grown on the prestigious Golden Mile Bench just outside of Oliver.
The Pinot Noir shows dusty red berries, tangy cherry, fine spice, botanical and saddle leather. The palate is less restrained; juicy and expressive fruit, sweet spices, vanilla and star anise flavours lounge on an off-dry palate.
Pair: grilled salmon, mushroom pastas, roasted beets and squash.

It's been a decade since I reviewed this wine and surprisingly, it decreased in price since.
It is a ripe and chocolaty version, spiced with licorice and clove and lifted with raspberry and cherry aromas. The palate is plus with generous sweet fruit and layers of more spice. Lengthy, smooth and exceedingly approachable. *Old label shown

Fresh, character, value.
Pear and yellow apple aromas are woven with vanilla, honey and citrus blossoms. The palate has a kiss of sweetness and zesty character. Solid value weekday white for white meats, oily fish, mushroom risotto and much more.
