Restrained, muted, fresh.
The 2019 vintage of this wine is numbed by oak. From 33-year-old hand harvested vines, 100% went through native yeast fermentation, which was fermented in stainless (20%) and the rest oak of differing sizes. The oak fermented portion also saw 5 months in barrel stirred sur-lie before being bottled in April 2020.
Muted yellow fruits, grilled lemon and toasted spice is influenced by oak aromas. Likewise the palate, while fresh is restrained with oak flavours clinging to the palate and the finish exhibits a textural phenolic character.
Personally not a fan of this style.
