Serious, complex, elegant
Township 7 was one of the first BC wineries to make a traditional method sparkling wine, in 1999. After some sporadic years Seven Stars was reborn in 2015 under the guidance of winemaker and sparkling wine expert Mary McDermott.
Seven Stars is now its own brand and has five sparkling wines in the portfolio with plans to increase the offering to seven (stands to reason) in coming years; all but one, Rigel, are Seven Stars Club exclusives.
Made exclusively from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (site says 22% Pinot and 76% Chard) from Township 7's Langley vineyard, the shining star known as Sirius is, "Much more traditional style as opposed to some of the others we have," according to McDermott.
The 2016 Sirius is golden shade with a fine bead. Notes of quince and yellow apples, toasted lemon brioche, bergamot tea and bruised peaches. It has amazing balance and complexity with notable autolytic flavours, which mimic the nose, Creamy berry lemon and yellow fruit flavours dominate the palate. It has wonderful length and is seamlessly elegant.
As a side note, the Seven Stars corks are some of the hardest I've ever dealt with removing. Have help ready or prepare to saber.
