Harmonious, balanced, supple.
This limited edition 150th anniversary blend of Petit Syrah, Malbec and Carmenere comes from the south central Cachapoal and Maule Valleys. The wine pays homage to Santa Carolina's century-and-a-half of winemaking heritage. The winery was established in 1875 by Luis Pereira, who named it after his wife Carolina.
Once assembled, the wine spent a year in barrels and then another six months in bottle.
Immediately on the nose savoury notes appear, think red bell peppers and bay leaf. Next red current, wildberry and plums atop dark chocolate and espresso. It's a silky and supple wine with fresh red fruit flavours alongside brown spices and tobacco. The finish is long and chocolaty. Good harmony and balance.
