Outstanding, harmonious, supple.
Tenuta di Arceno is an estate located in Castelnuovo Berardegna near Siena in Tuscany and il fauno di Arcanum is a Bordeaux-style blend that embodies the diversity of the estate. Sourced primarily from the Di Sotto, La Curva, Colombaio and San Giovanni blocks located in the lower southwest section of the estate; it is a warmer, exposed subsection that ripens early. In addition, the soils possess a significant amount of clay, with good water retention producing wines that tend to be more voluptuous and lush.
It's been more than six years since I last reviewed this wine and as always it's a consistently outstanding Super Tuscan. The 2022 is: Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (32%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) and a splash of Petit Verdot.
It doles out dulcet notes of cherries and wild red berries, cola and leather, warm earth and rose petals. The entry is supple; the fleshy sweet red fruit is juicy and generous. It is harmonious and complex with a lengthy tobacco and toasted spice flecked finish.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary
