Vigneti Zabu was established by the Farnese Group in 2007. The grapes for this singular red were plucked from vineyards located in western Sicily, south of Palermo, around the municipality of Sambuca di Sicilia, grown on clay-loam soils at nearly 1000 feet above sea level; it was aged six months in French and American oak.
It is a fresh and rustic red with characters of earth and brown spices, red fruit, saddle leather, cocoa and iodine. It's savoury and has distinct spice and chalky mineral, herb and wild berry flavours. A singular wine with a strong Sicilian stamp that shows good bones; it's made for Sicilian seafood dishes, fried eggplant, tomato dishes and assorted cheeses.
