Elegant, harmonious, excellent.
Lunessence was established in 2014 in Summerland and their name pays homage to their philosophy, combining Luna (moon) and essence. The moon is also as an important part of the biodynamic farming they practice. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards and ideally they use only native yeast, and no (or minimal) fining.
This 100% Cabernet Franc was 40% foot trodden and fermented in French oak (12% new), went through spontaneous malolactic fermentation and was aged 12 months in oak. Expect smoked plum and wild berry aromas muddled with baking spices, slated licorice, vanilla, dried roses and blueberry tea. It has notable structure, is elegant and juicy and wonderfully harmonious. The finish is long and cocoa tinged. Excellent example of the variety.
