Elegant, juicy, harmonious.
This label is a selection of Citation's best barrels from exceptional sites and they have seen additional bottle age before release. They note it is the finest Pinot Noir they offer and is created by looking beyond the limits of geographic boundaries to attain the highest quality possible. The most promising vineyard blocks were selected and fermented in small vessels. Punched-down twice a day by hand, the wine was later gently pressed to French oak barrels and aged for the next 18 months. This 2005 was then bottle aged an additional 9 years before release.
Tertiary aromas and flavours add character; cherries muddled with violets and orange peel, forest floor/wet cedar, leather and tealeaf appear on the nose. It has a wonderfully juicy palate that is woven, harmonious and elegant. Cigarbox, fine spice, red berries and tobacco flavours linger.
