Altesino Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Complex, silky, woven.
From Tuscany's Montalcino region this wonderfully woven Sangiovese over-delivers with aromas of cherry licorice, dried roses and vanilla, leather, pipe tobacco and fine peppery spices. It benefits from its maturity; complexity is interlaced with discernible freshness; its flavours are an echo of the nose. Silky and elegant it's truly a classic
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Complex, silky, woven.
From the Montalcino region of Tuscany, this outstanding Sangiovese delivers notes of strawberry and balsamic compote, start anise and sweet cherries, vanilla, molasses and dried orange peel. Tertiary characters appear on the palate; dried berries, pipe tobacco, cedar and fine spice flavours dominate. It's complex and woven, elegant and balanced with silky tannins.

Argiolas 'Costamolino' Vermentino di Sardegna, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, expressive, charming.
My go-to Italian white, this fragrant variety is at its best in Sardinia. Expect pretty aromas of yellow apples and green almonds, melon rind and white flowers. It is fresh with significant weight, a creamy edge and expressive fruit. Spicy and savoury with a bold lemony character on the palate, it is a wine that is good with almost everything, but in a pinch, pair with tomato and burrata salads, seafood, most appetizers or pasta tossed with saffron, olive oil and pecorino.

My go-to Italian white, this fragrant variety is at its best in Sardinia but is also found in Tuscany and Southern France. Expect pretty aromas of stone fruits and lemon curds, fleur de sel, honey, macchia (Mediterranean wild shrubbery) and green almond. The palate mimics the nose, it is unique, has notable concentration and weight and a lemony/pine-y finish. it is a wine that is good with almost everything, but in a pinch, pair with tomato and burrata salads, seafood, most appetizers or pasta tossed with saffron, olive oil and pecorino.
