Albet i Noya 'Petit Albet' Brut Reserva, Penedes, Spain
Readers rated this wine:
NEW, tasty, organic.
This new organic Cava is a traditional Penedes blend of Macabeo, Xarelo-lo and Parellada.
Pioneers in organic agriculture in Penedes (since 1978), the family of Albet i Noya has been tending vines for five generations and today produce a selection of still and sparkling wines, white, red and rose.
An off-dry bubbly that was aged 15 months in bottle, the Petit Albet suggests melon and candied lemons, apple peel, powdery floral notes and wild herbs with vague yeasty undertones. Creamy and clean on the palate, it shows primary flavours of yellow tree fruits, and citrus. A tasty traditional-method sparkling delivering good persistence and gulp-ability.

Familia Schroeder 'Alpataco' Pinot Noir, Patagonia, Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
New, unique, fresh.
From Patagonia's Familia Schroder, Alpataco's name is derived from the native thorny bush that prospers in Argentina's south.
It opens with a funky nose of wet paper then morphs into beet green and carrot tops, sweet spices and tangy red cherry, concord grapes and violets and a whiff of menthol. It is juicy with strong herbal flavours layered with sweet high-toned red fruit, leather and spice. Slick and elegant the finish is fresh and persistent; it saw zero oak.
Available in BCLS April 2021.

Lungarotti 'Rubesco' Rosso di Torgiano, Umbria, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Delicious, fresh, expressive.
Fermented in stainless steel and aged one year in cask and one in bottle, this blend of Sangiovese with Colorino (for structure and colour) is Lungarotti's most popular wine worldwide, a wine born in 1968.
A proprietary brand, Rubesco is named from the Latin verb rubescere: to blush. It's label, a bas-relief depicting a harvest, from the 13th century Fontana Maggiore of Perugia, one of Italy’s most beautiful fountains.
Lungarotti produces wines from their Umbrian estates in Torgiano and Montefalco.
Sweet cherry, strawberry and hints of blueberry are layered with chocolate, vanilla, pipe tobacco and cola spices. It has notable freshness and expressive fruit on the palate to mimic the nose. Supple with a medium+ body it trails licorice and tobacco flavours. The tannins are ripe with a fine textual element; the finish sweetly delicious.
Pair: Aged cheeses, lasagna, spaghetti with red or meat sauces, rich eggplant dishes or pizza.
