Don David 'El Esteco' Reserve Malbec, Calchaqui Valley, Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Inky, fresh, savoury.
From vineyards 1800 MASL, this value wine screams premium thanks in part to its hefty bottle and it was aged 12 months in new oak barrels.
Inky purple fruit aromas are woven with charred spices, roasted herbs, salted rare meat, espresso and dark chocolate. It's medium-full bodied with a fresh entry and savoury spiced meat and wild black berry flavours. Definitely a savoury wine, with a smooth and woven character.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Finca Los Moras Barrel Select Tannat Reserve, San Juan Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Fresh, chewy, savoury.
IMO Tannat in Argentina is much more approachable (softer tannins and more fruit expression) than those of its birthplace, in south west France.
This interpretation features notes of cherry flambe, orange peel, charred carob, grilled plus, leather, white pepper and espresso liqueur. It's a fleshy red with loads of underlying spice along with dark chocolate and grilled sausage. It has a distinct chewiness and will pair well with rich meats, grilled veg, hard cheeses, roasted mushrooms and spaghetti with bolognese.

Old image, label has changed.

Finca Los Moras Tannat Reserva, San Juan Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Value, supple, savoury.
Tannat in Argentina is much more approachable (softer tannins and more fruit expression) than those of its birthplace, in south west France.
This variation offers Rich black raspberry, black cherry, leather, dried savoury herbs, peppery spices and leather. Savoury on the palate as it is on the nose; meaty and spicy but with attractive supple chocolaty flavours as well. Overall, nice balance and attractive juiciness.
Pair: rich meats, grilled veg, hard cheeses, roasted mushrooms and spaghetti with bolognese.

Mascota Vineyards 'La Mascota' Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Brooding, firm, restrained.
Bordering on brooding, this earthy Cab delivers aromas of currents and cocoa, dried herbs and leather. It is more linear than plush, restrained fruit and firm dusty tannins describe the palate.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Canadian Chedder & Chive
