Arceno 'Il Fauno di Arcanum' Toscana, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Outstanding, postured, supple.
Tenuta di Arceno is an estate located in Castelnuovo Berardegna near Siena in Tuscany and il fauno di Arcanum is a Bordeaux-style blend that embodies the diversity of the estate. Sourced primarily from the Di Sotto, La Curva, Colombaio and San Giovanni blocks located in the lower southwest section of the estate; it is a warmer, exposed subsection that ripens early. In addition, the soils possess a significant amount of clay, with good water retention producing wines that tend to be more voluptuous and lush.
The 2015 is an outstanding Super Tuscan with components of Merlot (59%), Cabernet Franc (30%), Cabernet Sauvignon (9%) and Petit Verdot. It rolls out sweet wild cherries and wild blackberries, leather and brown spices, dark chocolate and tobacco aromas. A supple entry rolls into a postured wine that is fresh and deftly woven. Spiced plum cake and bitter cocoa, lead to a finish of tealeaf and cedar flavours.

Outstanding, harmonious, supple.

Sourced primarily from the Di Sotto, La Curva, Colombaio and San Giovanni blocks located in the lower southwest section of the estate; it is a warmer, exposed subsection that ripens early. It's a consistently outstanding Super Tuscan blend with components that vary by vintage, the 2017 is: Merlot (54%), Cabernet Franc (32%), Cabernet Sauvignon 12%) and a splash of Petit Verdot.
It doles out dulcet notes of wild cherries and strawberry, red plums and leather and brown spices, dark cocoa, coffee and rose petals. The entry is supple the fleshy fruit sweet and generous, it is harmonious and slick with great concentration and complexity, the tannins are chalky. Classic.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Arceno 'Il Fauno di Arcanum' Toscana, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
A Super Tuscan blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cacernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot it shows bruised strawberries, savoury spices, and iodine aromas which morph into a lean palate with tealeaf, cedar and spice. With age, the fruit has dissipated leaving secondary flavours.
Disappointing compared to previous renditions of this wine.

Brewer~Clifton Chardonnay, Santa Rita Hills, California
Readers rated this wine:
Fleshy, singular, golden.
Harvested from four separate vineyards and matured in neutral oak barrel to add complexity and weight but not oakiness, this is a truly memorable bottle.
It is golden and resinous offering aromas of yellow apples, pineapple chunks, spiced butter, vanilla and acacia flowers. Fleshy and ripe but with excellent acidity to balance--fresh weighty and the finish is nutty and spiced.

Brewer~Clifton Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills, California
Readers rated this wine:
Powerful, supple, fragrant.
A pretty yet powerful Pinot boasting alluring aromas of sunwarmed raspberry, vanilla, anise, cedar chips, muddled blueberries and a field full of violets. Generous sweet blueberry and raspberry flavours are layered with baking spice, bittersweet cocoa and tealeaf flavours. It has suppleness and density, but also levity and length. At 14.5% alcohol, it's a bit warm on the finish, but the fruit here really shines.
