Matchbook Wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Dunnigan Hills, California
Readers rated this wine:
Toasted, fresh, muscular.
Matchbook Wines is owned by the Giguire family (who produce a number of labels) and are made from estate grapes grown on the rocky red sloping Dunnigan Hills located inland, north of Sacramento, California.
Expect aromas of toasted spice and black berries, pipe tobacco and mocha with earthy undertones and a hint of black pepper. The palate entry is fresh then grows toasty to mimic the nose, black fruit and bittersweet chocolate flavours mingle with fresh earth. Chalky tannins line the palate. A muscular wine; a consummate BBQ red.
