Jose Maria da Fonseca 'Periquita', Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Classic, velvety, harmonious.
This classic blend of Castelao 58%, Trincadeira 39% and Arogonez 3%, spent 6 months in new French and American oak and offers exceptional value. It is also renowned for being the first red wine bottled in Portugal; it's been in existence since 1850. Fragrant black cherry and raspberry aromas are layered with cedar and violets, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, star anise and pipe tobacco. It has a supple, velvety palate with generous fruit. It's a modern wine with a rustic backbone and trails chocolate flavours on the finish. Harmonious, approachable and tasty. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen
