Boschendal Chardonnay, South Africa
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, spicy, zesty
Founded in 1685, Boschendal stands as one of the oldest wine companies in South Africa.
This Chardy is savoury and zesty, a consistently solid version made under the guidance of Stephan Joubert (group winemaker for DGB) who knows his Chardonnay.
The 2018 delivers notes of golden pineapples, yellow apples and smoked sweet spices, melon rind and lemongrass. Balanced freshness with a creamy edge, it is spicy, savoury and has a racy, pithy finish that will pair with corn on the cob, grilled chicken, smoked cheeses, shellfish dipped in butter and creamy white sauces.
