Boschendal Chardonnay, South Africa
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, creamy, fresh.
Founded in 1685, Boschendal stands as one of the oldest wine companies in South Africa.
This Chardy is savoury and zesty, a consistently solid version made under the guidance of Stephan Joubert (group winemaker for DGB) who knows his Chardonnay.
The 2019 delivers notes of young pineapple, yellow apples and sweet brown spices, vanilla and lemon peel. Balanced freshness with a creamy edge, it is spicy, savoury and has a nutty/citrusy finish.
Pair:
corn on the cob, grilled chicken, smoked cheeses, shellfish dipped in butter and creamy white sauces.
