Expressive, juicy, approachable.
While the newly turned Rust Wine Co. is located on Golden Mile Drive and is one of the handful of wineries allowed to use the designation. However, this wine comes from the Lazy River Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley and it was fermented and aged in stainless steel, 1/3 of it went through carbonic maceration, which lends the wine its fruity character, and less tannic structure.
I love this style of red, juicy and expressive with cherries, strawberry twizzlers, leather, brown spices and beets on the nose. Similar flavours of strawberry jelly are woven with nutella. Fresh and approachable with a light body that responds well to a chill.
A year round wine, from holiday turkey to patio sipping.
