Black Hills Estate Winery Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
A new offering from Oliver's Black Hills Estate Winery, this Pinot was aged for 10 months in French oak and comes from vineyards owned by Andrew Peller (who bought Black Hills in 2017), which means it is still considered estate. Classic aromas of red berries and cherries, cocoa, tealeaf, savoury botanical and leather lead to a palate that is earthy, faintly spicy and has dusty cocoa tannins. Not so much in the silky realm of Pinot, but fresh.

Black Hills Estate Winery Syrah, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Elegant, succulent, balance.
Across the board, Black Hills' wines get better each vintage, this Syrah is no exception.
The aromas are expectedly spicy; black pepper, blackberries, plum, vanilla, mocha and violets atop succulent aromas of smoked meat, dried figs and molasses. The palate is as silky as the nose suggests; fresh wild forest fruit muddled with dried plum, smoked sausage, roasted spices, cocoa...
Overall excellent structure and balance - the freshness here adds levity. Pair: hard cheeses, wild mushroom ravioli, grilled meats, cheese fondue.

Black Hills Estate Winery Tempranillo, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
New, supple, redolent.
This inaugural release Tempranillo is redolent with rose petal, licorice and vanilla aromas layered with pipe tobacco, peppery spices and cherry and wild berries. It is supple but bright with high-toned berry fruit flavours. All around a pleasure to drink, with spot-on balance.

Black Hills Estate Winery Viognier, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Opulent, juicy, concentrated.
Expect rich aromas of peach puree and mango, ginger alongside other exotic spices, lime, honeysuckle and earthier forest floor/mushroomy undertones. The palate is equally plush and weighted with creamy honey, exotic spices and tropical fruits, but buoyed by juicy citrus. Excellent concentration and length and liveliness.
Pair: halibut, roast chicken, Moroccan dishes or a thin-crust caramelized onion and soft blue cheese pizza.
