Oops 'Cheeky Little White' Sauvignon Blanc, Central Valley Chile
Readers rated this wine:
Citrus-y, value, verdant
A rare blend, Sauvignon Blanc with 15% the red variety Carmenere, this tangy white leads with notes of lemon and gooseberry, passion-fruit and green apples, with a core of nettle and grass clippings. The palate is crunchy, sweaty and smoky with intense herbal notes leading to a finish of grilled lemons.
A solid everyday white to pair with seafood, goat cheese quiche, spicy stir-frys.

Readers rated this wine:
An honest value, this tangy South American Sauvignon Blanc is lashed with elderflower and jalapeno aromas, which are layered with grass clippings, green apples and passion-fruit. It is slick on the palate, has good balance and plenty of herbal flavours underscored by snappy citrus. Crisp, dry, and straightforward with a distinct umami character, making it a great white for food pairing.

Expect fresh notes of cherry and chocolate, leather and licorice, dried flowers and brown spices. The palate echos the nose. it's fresh and smooth and easy drinking. Expressive berry flavours are layered with coffee chocolate and a hint of bacon fat. A pleasing and affordable weekday red.

Value, fresh, savoury.
The oops Spicy Splendor is made entirely from an old Bordeaux variety that's been famously embraced and championed by Chile; Carmenere.
Priced with great value in mind it offers notes of dried violets and roses, purple berries, charred cedar, grilled red peppers, peppercorn, chocolate and roasted herbs. The palate is fresh with oodles of tangy red berries, cocoa and toasted spice.
A great weekday dinner red with roasted veggies, hearty stews and soups or grilled meats.

Oops 'Spicy Splendor' Carmenere, Central Valley Chile
Readers rated this wine:
Made from a Bordelaise variety that was readily adopted by Chile, this savoury and well-priced Carmenere offs ripe black plums and black cherry, cocoa, smoked spices, espresso and roasted red bell peppers on the nose. There is plenty of sweet fruit offset by succulent meaty flavours on the palate, and it is silky smooth. Great balance here, the acidity is not only refreshing and more approachable, but also adds to its food pairing capabilities.

Oops 'Spicy Splendor' Carmenere, Central Valley Chile
Readers rated this wine:
Value, supple, approachable.
The label on this value red has some good reading material; background on the Carmenere variety in Chile.
The wine itself offers aromas of cracked Szechuan peppercorns, bittersweet chocolate, dark mocha and roasted bell peppers with tobacco and succulent black currents and roasted plums. Mocha, back raspberry and spice flavours dominate the palate, which has good concentration, is very approachable and has a supple texture and silky weight.
