Anciano '35 Year Old Vines' Garnacha, Calatayud, Spain
Readers rated this wine:
Stylish, expressive, juicy.
A wine made by Master of Wine Norrel Robertson, from old vines set at between 2000-3000 feet above sea level. At (roughly) $20, it's a bargain.
Strawberry jam and licorice aromas roll into spice and patchouli. It is juicy and youthful with expressive fruit and fine textural tannins. A stylish red, balanced and delicious for tapas, roasted meats and tomato-based sauces.

Anciano 'Aged 7 Years' Reserva Tempranillo, DO Valdepenas Spain
Readers rated this wine:
Exceptional, pretty, fresh.
Exceptional value for a wine aged 7 years (now 10 according to my math), and a best seller in our market.
It doles out strawberry confiture and dried rose petals with distinct grape-y notes alongside licorice. It is dry and earthy yet pretty, with juicy red berry flavours. Great balance and freshness, an honest wine with notable length.

Reserva wines in DO Valdepenas must undergo a minimum aging period of 36 months, at least 12 of which are spent in oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 330 liters, and the remaining time in the bottle.
