Tohu

Marlborough

Kono Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand
Readers rated this wine:
Charming, snappy, lip-smacking.
Charming and tasty, this zingy Savvy is made by New Zealand's first Maori owned winery, Tohu, which was established in 1998. In Maori, Tohu means sign or signature. In all, the company produces not only Tohu and Kono wines (made from vines in Nelson and Marlborough), but farms Kono mussels and makes fruit bars and Tutu cider. They hold firm to the core value that love for the land and respect for the sea must be ever present; to prosper, the environment must be well and healthy, full of life and vitality.
The 2021 is as bright as always. Peaches, passionfruit, lime, snappy green apples and ederflower aromas lead to an energetic and juicy Savvy with oodles of sweet crunchy fruit. It's a joyful little quaffer that's easy to drink and has a lip-smacking finish.

Tohu Sauvignon Blanc, Awatere Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand
Readers rated this wine:
Delicious, silky, racy.
Establish in 1998, Tohu is the first entirely Maori owned wine business. It is part of Kono (also a wine label) and is based in Te Tauihu, the top of the South Island. With more than 4000 owner families, their goal is preserve and enhance their taonga (treasured possession) for present and future generations.
This delicious Savvy comes from the cooler Awatere Valley within Marlborough, known for is more verdant wines. Gooseberry and passionfruit aromas are layered with lime, elderflower leaf, wildflower honey and white grapefruit. The palate is just as pristine and piquant as the nose. Citrus peel, passionfruit and grass clippings flavours hold court; it also has a silky texture and good length.
