Blue Mountain

British Columbia

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Gold Label Brut, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Golden, racy, classic.
Blue Mountain has long been known for their estate grown, traditional method sparkling wines and the value in each bottle--they're widely regarded for making exceptional fizz.
The 2018 (disgorged August 2021) is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a splash of Pinot Gris; the grapes were whole cluster pressed and each variety fermented separately. After fermentation the components were blended and inoculated with yeast and fermented a second time in bottle. Post secondary fermentation the wine was aged in bottle sur lie for 24 months.
It has golden glints and tiny bead with notes of wildflowers and yellow plum, golden apples, bread dough, mountain stream and brined lemons. It's a statuesque sparkling, bone dry and racy with a leesy palate along with mineral, lemon, hazelnut and tart apple flavours.

Their classic brut is 53% Pinot Noir 43% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Gris, and was aged sur lie for 24 months before being disgorged August 2019.
Peach crumble, yellow apples, bread dough and hazelnut aromas are woven with lemon and faint tart berry notes. Creamy with a fine bead it is refined and stylish, pristine and lengthy. Flavours of toast, golden fruit and citrus line the palate.

Blue Mountain has long been known for their estate grown, traditional method sparkling wines and the value in each bottle--they're widely regarded for making exceptional fizz.
This non-vintage version is made from Pinot Noir (57%), Chardonnay (39%) and Pinot Gris (4%); the grapes were whole cluster pressed and each variety fermented separately. After fermentation the components were blended and inoculated with yeast and fermented a second time in bottle. Post secondary fermentation the wine was aged in bottle sur lie for 24 months. It was disgorged in August of 2020.
A visual of golden glints and tiny beads of bubbles directs you to a nose of wildflower honey, red apple peel, grilled lemon and baking bread aromas. It has complexity and balance and a racy character. Dry with a creamy edge to blanket the on-point acidity, it is a decisive sparkling with lemon curds on fresh toast and sliced yellow apple flavours and the finish just keeps going.
