James Oatley Tic Tok Pinot Grigio, Central Ranges Australia
Readers rated this wine:
Robert Oatley named the Tic Tok range after his grandfather James Oatley, a clockmaker who arrived in Sydney as a convict in 1815. His skills led him to a pardon only six years later and subsequently his clocks became known as works of art.

I've like this wine since I first tasted it a few vintages ago, this time I wasn't quite as pleased.
The aromas here are creamy pears, tangerine, spiced caramel, smoky honey and over-ripe musk melon and dried pineapple chunks. The palate is an echo of the nose - honey, yellow apples, ripe peach and citrus peel with a zesty and spicy finish. Medium length finish but all in all not as fresh as previous vintages.

Kris Pinot Grigio Della Venezie, Veneto Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Piquant, complex, mouthwatering.
The Kris' recognizable green hand label was designed by Italian artist Riccardo Schweizer (1925-2004).
Consistently on-point, this vintage doles out stewed yellow apples, ripe pear and marzipan with honey, white raisins, lemon meringue and acacia blossoms. It is weighty in the mouth; bitter almond and lemon zest flavours prevail. Lengthy and complex overall, with good balance and pithy, mouthwatering finish.
Pair: A rustic antipasti platter, a simple Aglio e Olio (pasta with garlic, olive oil and chili flakes) or white meats.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Olive Oil & Cracked Pepper

new 2013.
This has always been a quite concentrated and ripe version and this vintage does not differ. Expect rich golden fruits, marzipan, honey, talc and acacia. The palate is expressive and substantial with mouthwatering acidity rounded off with a creamy edge. Overall nice persistence and complexity with flavours of guava, grapefruit oil and yellow apples.
Pair: A rustic antipasti platter, a simple Aglio e Olio (pasta with garlic, olive oil and chili flakes) or white meats.

Consistently on-point it offers guava, lemondrops, honey, white peach and acacia on the nose. It is tangy and lengthy, with lovely viscosity and piquant citrus flavours, which are rounded out with distinct mineral notes.

Langmeil 'Steadfast' Shiraz~Cabernet, Barossa Valley Australia
Readers rated this wine:
Fresh, savoury, spicy
A new arrival to BC Liquor Stores, this Barossa blend of Shiraz and Cabernet from one of Barossa's most respected family-owned wineries leads with toasted spice, purple berries and damson plums then rolls into notes of boxwood, vanilla and white pepper. It has applaud-able freshness and flavours of mixed black and purple berries, espresso, carob and savoury spices. It leans slightly brooding but has commendable posture and balance.
Pair: Ribs, chili and burgers or anything you can throw on the grill.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Canadian Chedder & Chive
