Singular, generous, potent.
Here is another lovely vintage of the Monte del Fra, which hails from Custoza, only 15km from Lake Garda near Verona. It is a very unique blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Tocai Friulano, Cortese, Chardonnay-Riesling Italico-Malvasia and Incrocio Manzoni from a vineyard more than 40 years old.
It's a perfume of honeysuckle, and beeswax, golden fruits, lemon curds on toast and green almonds. Equally seductive in the mouth it is weighty with ripe peaches, honeyed and silky and laden with spice, pineapple and lemon curd flavours. A singular wine, that is luscious and potent.
Pair: Oysters, sushi, sashimi, white meats and glazed duck.
