Precise, fragrant, crunchy.
A new-ish winery, located in the Okanagan Valley, Lunessence launched in 2014 after taking over a property in Summerland.
Their philosophy is hidden also in their name: Lunessence where Luna=Moon + Essence. The essence of the Moon. Moon as an important part of biodynamic farming that they are implementing. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards with a focus on natural wines; they ideally use only native yeast, no, or minimal fining (only bentonite and time), and very light or no filtration at all.
A very singular blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat (with some Chardonnay, Viognier and Semillon thrown in) in this case works. It is fragrant; the Sauvignon Blanc dominates with lime, green apples and grass clippings, but the Muscat and Viognier kick in with crunchy peachy/apricot notes. It has a kiss of sweetness and is tangy, bright and mouthwatering, with a pristine demeanor.
