Hillside Estate Winery Rose, Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Juicy, sweet, zesty.
This partial saignee (bleeding off juice) rose is made from Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc and Pinot Noir that received between 0-4 hours of skin contact, it was fermented in stainless steel, partially dry.
It's a watermelon pink with bold splashes of ruby. Expect aromas of strawberry jellies, vanilla, peach stone, maraschino cherry, pink grapefruit and lilacs after a rainfall. It has a slick and juicy entry, the wine has a slight prickle on the tongue and shows loads of sweet red fruit flavours. Harmonious and off-dry it has a zesty finish to help cleanse to palate.

Hillside Winery 'Dickinson Vineyard' Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, restrained, distinct.
The Hidden Valley Vineyard Merlot is distinctly different from this one, which is much more savoury. The site is located on a sun-drenched bench just approaching Naramata.
Herbal notes lead the charge here alongside cedar chips and tangy red berries, tobacco, bittersweet chocolate and baking spices. The palate is restrained and tightly woven; dusty red fruits and spice are the focus. Expect notable acidity with textural tannins, which add chew.

Hillside Winery 'Hidden Valley Vineyard' Merlot, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Bright, modern, fragrant.
Merlot harvested from the Hidden Valley Vineyard located behind the winery on Naramata Bench, this modern version offers cherry jam and plummy aromas with vanilla, baking spices, cedar chips and undertones of savoury wild herbs. It is ripe and fresh but leans more toward pomegranate flavours on the palate, bright acidity adds plenty of levity and it is nicely woven with a sweet finish.
