Belle Glos Pinot Noir 'Clark & Telephone', Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara, Calif.
Readers rated this wine:
Plush, silky, pretty.
Joe Wagner makes five single vineyard Pinot Noirs under the Belle Glos label. The vineyards are: Las Alturas (planted high in the Santa Lucia highlands), Taylor Lane (close to the ocean and resulting fog on the coast) and this Clark & Telephone in Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara. The Dairyman Vineyard Pinot Noir is the fourth, which hails from Russian River, also very near the Pacific Ocean, and the fifth from the Napa side of Carneros is called Eulenloch. I have never tasted the latter.
This 2019 Clark & Telephone showcases plump cherry and raspberry aromas, which meld with vanilla, star anise, cinnamon, brown sugar, forest floor, tealeaf and sweet cocoa. It has a plush palate redolent with fat juicy raspberry, black cherry and vanilla flavours. Nice depth and concentration here, it is silky and lands squarely on the potent end of the Pinot spectrum.

Bellingham 'The Bernard Series' Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Coastal Region South Africa
Readers rated this wine:
Concentrated, lengthy, fleshy.
This consistently impressive Chenin Blanc, made from high altitude, gnarled bush vines, was aged in oak barrels.
A brilliant yellow wine it offers potent aromas of grilled pineapples and charred lemon peel, toasted vanilla and cumin, acacia, honey, beeswax and granny smith apples. A juicy entry on the palate leads to toast slathered in rich lemon curd, pineapples, spice, chamomile, and pomelo on the finish. It's a fleshy and supple wine with a snappy palate rounded off with a creamy texture.
Pair: roast chicken or turkey, smoked cheeses and creamy pastas.

Bodega Norton 'Barrel Select' Sauvignon Blanc, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Earthy, citrusy, tangy.
This Argentinian Savvy has an earth quality; grass clippings and steamed herbs, canned peaches, gooseberry, lemon and green apples appear on the nose. It is tangy and citrusy with toasty undertones. Racy acidity is apparent and the finish has a saline quality.
