Concentrated, brooding, substantial.
This vintage, the 1884 tempts with intense notes of blackberry jam, star anise, bruised violets, 80 percent dark chocolate mocha, prune plums and black pepper. It shows toasted oak, savoury spices, dark chocolate nibs and espresso on the palate. A substantial wine with a concentrated brooding character.
Made for dense proteins, such as hard cheeses, grilled mushrooms and roasted meats.
