DFJ Vinhos 'Portada' Reserva, Lisboa, Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Modern, fleshy, supple.

A perfect example of the great value wines coming out of Lisboa, modern blends, which include international and classic Portiguese varietals.
This wine is ripe and fleshy with vanilla, dried cherries and plums, baking spices and licorice. It is mouthfilling and supple, fruit driven and very approachable.
Pair with a nice Portuguese sheep's milk cheese or it will suit any savoury, tomato-based sauces and roasted meat dishes.

Opulent, slick, persistent.
An opulent red with black cherries, licorice, prunes and balsamico, smoked spices, dark cocoa and savoury herbal notes. Weighty with a glycerol texture and slick mouthfeel it has instant espresso, bittersweet chocolate, dried fruit and sweet spice flavours. Intense and expressive with a very persistent finish. It offers certain value for what's in the bottle.

Escorihuela "1884 The President's Blend', Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Decadent, extravagant, muscular.
This decadent blend of Malbec with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah doles out extravagant notes of sarsaparilla, mocha, purple berries and leather with a bouquet of rose petals and violets. That fragrant quality is passed onto the palate; generous fruit, supple weight, szechuan peppercorns, rich mocha and leather. It is quite muscular but fresh, the tannins are chewy but polished and is has a long slick finish.
President Juan Peron and his wife Evita were fond of one of Escorihuela's red blends in the 1940s; this wine pays homage to that era with its hefty bottle and powerful character.

Escorihuela '1884' Cabernet Sauvignon 'Finca E.G., Agrelo, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Powerful, generous, substantial.
Escorihuela's 2020 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon continues to achieve its goal of being both complex and exceedingly drinkable. This vintage is a dark ruby garnet and suggests kirsch and black currents, pipe tobacco and paprika, toasted oak, espresso and grilled wild herbs. On the palate saltwater taffy, vanilla, and generous black fruit slide across the tongue. It's substantial and intense with polished tannins and a long powerful finish.
A solid partner for game meats, roasted wild mushrooms, aged cheeses and BBQ.
