Second review: November 2022
A spicy wine with licorice and cherry flavours woven with white pepper, violets, vanilla and cedar chips. Expressive sweet fruit shines on the palate along with espresso, brown spices, bittersweet cocoa and tealeaf. The Mourvedre power and broodiness comes through on the finish.

Savoury, smoked, meaty. Road 13 is located on the Golden Mile Bench sub-GI near Oliver. Their Southern Rhone-inspired version of a GSM (Grenache Syrah and Mourvedre) is a succulent blend with notes of dark roast espresso, green olives and sage, bitter chocolate, bacon fat and smoked spices atop blackberry and black plum aromas. The palate mimic the nose; charred spices, dark chocolate and coffee beans, black fruits and iodine with tobacco flavours trailing on the finish.
It's medium+ bodied with a strong Mourvedre character.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Olive Oil & Cracked Pepper

Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, spicy, muscular. Road 13's version of Grenache Syrah and Mourvedre is a succulent compound of blackberries, smoked meat, bittersweet chocolate, black plums and exotic spices. The palate is equally savoury. Smoke and wild berries with espresso and spice dominate the palate. It has a firm palate with a more muscular style, likely assisted by the more brooding Mourvedre variety.

Fresh, spicy, fleshy. Road 13's version of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre is a fleshy wine offering strawberries and chocolate, dried rose petals and vanilla, baking spices, cedar chips and licorice. It is fresh, has good structure and balanced acidity and its long smooth finish trails spice and espresso.

Road 13 'Honest John's' White, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Aromatic, juicy, mouthwatering.
Made from Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Kerner this aromatic white blend from Road 13 delves quickly into creamy lemony notes, honey and brisk grapefruit, apricots and yellow apples with smokey and herbal undertones. It has a kiss of sweetness to pop the fruit on the palate and a juicy personality, which adds levity. Overall, a mouthwatering quaffer with attractive weight.

Road 13 'Jackpot 5th Element', British Columbia
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, plush, lengthy.
The 5th Element red earth, wind, water, fire and wine is a Merlot dominant blend with Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot picked from estate vineyards, Blind Creek in the Similkameen Valley and the Castle Vineyard on the Golden Mile. It spent 18 months in French and American oak (35% new).
Kirsch black plum and vanilla aromas mingle with baking spices, Turkish coffee, cedar, violets and chocolate. It is inky and textural; coffee chocolate, dusty plums, sage and toasted spice flavours line the palate. Balance and power.
