Corcelettes Estate Winery 'Talus', Similkameen Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Composed, elegant, sensuous.
Corcelettes is a boutique winery settled on 150 acres of the Similkameen Valley's Upper Bench in Keremeos. Talus their flagship wine, is deftly constructed from the best fruit grown on their alluvial deposit and gravelly sandy loam soil vineyard.
The 2019 is the second release of this wine, a blend of Merlot (45%), Cabernet Franc (28%), Cabernet Sauvignon (21%), Petit Verdot (2%) and Malbec (4%) that was hand harvested from designated site specific vines. What makes Talus so special is these sites were individually fermented in their smaller volumes followed by 100% french oak barrel (225L) aging. Those barrels were vetted for their expression as individuals and again as a whole in the blend.
A plush nose suggests chocolate dipped cherries, black currents and plum pudding alongside pipe tobacco, vanilla and a splash of cold brew. Just as sensuous as the nose, the palate is laden with expressive dark fruit woven with espresso, dark cocoa and leather flavours. It's an on-point blend with structure, composure and freshness, but most notably, elegance.

Readers rated this wine:
Complex, polished, balanced.
Corcelettes is a boutique winery settled on 150 acres of the Similkameen Valley's Upper Bench in Keremeos. Talus their flagship wine, is built from the best fruit grown on their alluvial deposit and gravelly sandy loam soil vineyard. It's a blend of Merlot (38%), Cabernet Franc (31%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Petit Verdot (12%) and Malbec (4%) that was harvested throughout October and November of 2018; it was aged 18-months in French oak barrels before bottling.
This vintage expresses spiced plums, sweet black currents and blueberries atop muddled dried violets, pipe tobacco, vanilla and chocolate. Admirably constructed, it delivers dusty dark fruit, dark cocoa, savoury spices and wild Similkameen brush flavours. The tannins, while evident and youthful, are polished; the balance is on point, complexity is notable. You could not make this wine anywhere else, it shows true definition of place in every sip.

Corcelettes Estate Winery Gewurztraminer, Similkameen Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Restrained, crisp, mineral.
Part of the Vineyard Accolade Series, this singular Gew hails from a grower vineyard called the Second Chance Vineyard, in Cawston.
Don't expect an overblown style here, it has restraint and a mineral focus; tropical fruits are layered with rose petals, fine spice, wild herbs and citrus. The palate is crisp and fresh, not unctuous and oily, and it has a more linear, mineral focus.

Corcelettes Estate Winery Merlot, Similkameen Valley
Readers rated this wine:
From Corcelettes estate vineyard on the upper bench of Keremeos, thisMerlot is is aged in 1000L French oak vats, which helps mature the wine, but with less oak influence. Smoked plums, tealeaf, bacon fat, cocoa and leather aromas lead to a supple palate with supple chocolaty flavours layered with espresso and plums. Seamlessly woven with good concentration.

Readers rated this wine:
Sweet, approachable, delicious
Corcelettes is a boutique winery settled on 150 acres of the Similkameen Valley's Upper Bench in Keremeos and is owned by the Baessler family.
The 2019 Merlot was aged in 1000L French oak vats to not overwhelm its Similkameen profile. The nose suggests sweet cherry and red plum aromas mixed with baking spices, purple flowers, vanilla and licorice. It is a approachable and fresh wine with sweet red fruit to echo the nose, along with orange peel, raspberry tea and spiced cocoa. Fine tannins are nicely managed.
Honest and delicious.
