CedarCreek Estate Cabernet Franc, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
New, firm, fragrant.
For the first time in 20 years, Cabernet Franc, a variety CedarCreek has used predominantly as a blender, has it's own label. Grown in CedarCreek's southern Okanagan vineyard, it is comprised of Cab Franc with 10% Merlot that was aged 12 months in oak barrel. The nose suggests sweet notes of raspberry and kirsch, red licorice and vanilla, baking spices and dried wild flowers. It's a concentrated model with some notable skin contact. Coffee, dark cocoa,, roasted spice and pipe tobacco flavours dominate. The tannins are firm and hold tight to the palate. I suggest pairing this with hard cheeses, hearty bean casseroles, or BBQ. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen
