Capezzana 'Villla di Capezzana' Carmignano, Tuscany, Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Complex, berries, concentrated.
Only 20 kilometers west of Florence, in Tuscany, Carmignano is a commune in the province of Prato. Capezzana is located here, owned by the Contini Bonacossi family since 1920, it has however been a wine producing estate for centuries.
This blend of Sangiovese with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in French barrique and tonneaux barrels for a year followed by another year in bottle.
Spiced strawberry compote, prune and leather, tobacco, balsamic, molasses and oregano aromas translate to a supple and complex palate. Sweet berry and cherry, cocoa, coffee, spice and balsamic flavours roll across a concentrated and lengthy palate.
